Frequently asked questions

Do I need an internet connection to use Hearth?

No. Hearth is fully usable offline. Your recipes and meal plans are stored on your device, so you can save, browse, and cook from them anywhere — no signal required. An internet connection is only needed to import a recipe from a web link, or to sync/share your recipes if you've signed in.

Do I have to create an account?

No, signing in is completely optional. Hearth works fully without an account. Creating an account (with email or Google Sign-In) is only useful if you want your recipes to sync across multiple devices, or if you want to share a household recipe collection and meal plan with family members.

How does hands-free cooking mode work?

While cooking, you can use voice commands to move between steps, set timers, and re-read instructions without touching your phone with messy hands. Voice recognition runs entirely on your device — your voice is never recorded or sent anywhere.

How do subscriptions and restoring purchases work?

Hearth Plus removes ads and adds cloud photo sync. Subscriptions are purchased and managed through Google Play. If you've reinstalled Hearth or switched devices, open Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases to restore an active subscription tied to your Google Play account.

What is household sharing?

Household sharing lets you share your recipe collection and meal plan with people you invite — like a partner or roommate — using an invite code. Everyone in the household sees the same shared recipes and plan. You'll need to be signed in to use household sharing.

How do I delete my recipes or my account?

You can delete individual recipes at any time from within the app. For full account and data deletion instructions, see our Delete Account page.
